Words like freedom and patriotism are associated with a country’s Independence Day. Perhaps it would not be wrong to say that this day is the most cherished one for any country as it marks the struggles underwent by our forefathers to make this country independent. The citizens of any country try their level best to pay respects in form of parades and air shows to their mother country and its freedom martyrs.
As part of paying homage to our mother country on its Independence Day, Jovago Pakistan has compiled a list of places that one should visit on Independence Day in order to know about Pakistan’s history.
- Mazar e Quaid
Situated in the city of lights-Karachi and made of exquisite white marble, Mazar e Quaid is the final resting place of the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is Pakistan’s largest mausoleum. There is also a museum adjacent to the mausoleum where artifacts of historical importance are kept. Various ceremonies are held at Mazar e Quaid on significant occasions.
- Minar e Pakistan
Located in the heart of Pakistan, this minaret is one of the most important monuments in Pakistan due to its historic significance. It is situated in Iqbal Park which is adjacent to Badshahi Masjid. The large public space around Minar e Pakistan is commonly used for political and public meetings.
- Pakistan Monument
In the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, this beautiful monument is shaped as blooming flower petal-shaped structure to symbolize national unity. There is also an adjoining museum which holds wax monuments depicting important events that lead to Pakistan Movement.
- Wahga Border
This is another famous place in Lahore which is situated on the Grand Trunk Road. Situated at 18 miles distance from Lahore, Wahga Border is a border between India and Pakistan. On a daily basis, the flag raising and reduction ceremony is carried out at this place. Soldiers from both the countries show their military perfection on this Indo-Pak border.
