Places to Visit This New Year

The entire world is busy in bidding adieu to the outgoing year and welcoming the new year in their own way. While some organize parties so that people come together to reminisce and have loads of fun, others go about exploring the world to gain a new perspective for the new year.

  • Charna Island
Considered to be a haven for watersports, Churna Island is situated in the coastal area of Pakistan, in the Arabian sea. It is located at the boundary of Sindh and Balochistan. The island has emerged as a favorite among tourists because of the variety of watersports including snorkeling, scuba diving etc. Due to the coral reefs in the area, which attract a large amount of marine life, Churna island has emerged as the hub of scuba diving in Pakistan.

  • Cholistan and Derawar fort
Also known as Rohi, the Cholistan desert lies at the western side of the Thar desert in Pakistan. Spread over an area of 10,000 miles, the Cholistan desert was once an agriculture-based land in the famous Indus Valley Civilization and was watered by the River Hakra. Once the river changed its direction, the waterbed dried up leaving behind large sandy, barren land.

Despite being made out of clay bricks, the Derawar fort is a spectacular sight for tourists. The fort due to its critical point in the desert, from where the remains of the water deposits of the Hakra River are still accessible, is an essential stopping point for travelers.

  • Takht-i-bahi
Known as the throne of Origins in the English language, the Takht-i-Bahi is an important archeological site. It is basically a Buddhist monastic Complex and one of the two most well structured Buddhist monasteries in the district of Gandhara. Considered to be a  World Heritage Site, Takht-i-Bahi  attracts a large number of tourists, historians, archaeologists and Buddhist towards itself.

  • Malam Jabba

Considered to be the Pakistan’s first skiing resort, Malam Jabba is a favorite spot for tourists. At a height of 8700 ft, Malam Jabba is basically a hill station which is part of the famous Karakoram range.There are various Buddhist stupas and monasteries around the resort.
